Rev Michael Raiter - BA, MTh, DipA (Theol), DipEd
Principal Teaching areas: Theology, Homiletics
Michael became Principal of BCV in 2006. Born in Liverpool, England, his family migrated to Australia in the mid 1960s. After graduating from Wollongong University in 1976, he started a career as a high school teacher. In 1978 he went to teach at Murree Christian School in Pakistan with the Church Missionary Society, where he met his wife, Sarah, the daughter of American missionaries. After completing theological studies at Sydney’s Moore Theological College and a stint serving on its faculty in the late 1980s, Michael, Sarah and their young family returned to Pakistan to work in theological education with Interserve for seven and a half years. In 1997 Michael, Sarah and their four children returned to Moore Theological College, where Michael was head of the Department of Mission until the end of 2005. Michael has written several books, including Stirrings of the Soul (Matthias Media 2003), which was awarded the 2004 Christian Book of the Year Award. Michael is in wide demand as a conference speaker. His hobbies include cryptic crosswords, crime novels and walks with his wife. Rev Sam Reeve - BE, BTh
Vice-Principal Teaching areas: Missiology, Discipleship
Sam joined BCV in 2008. Brought up on a dairy farm on the edge of Sydney, he left home to train as an engineer with BHP at Port Kembla. After working on various engineering roles, he and his wife Janet studied theology at Moore Theological College in Sydney. In 1983 they moved to Pakistan with Interserve to work with the Church of Pakistan in evangelism and discipling of new believers. Over the next 14 years he worked in outreach to tribal Hindus, training 'bare foot' pastors and bible teachers, bible training, theological education and mission leadership. Returning to Australia in 1997, Sam became senior pastor of Wollongong Baptist Church, a multi-cultural church in the centre of the city, with a ministry to students and internationals. Rev Dr Jeff Pugh - PhD, TheolM, MA(Theol), BTh, BEc Dip Ed
Dean of Postgraduate Studies
Jeff had 14 years in pastoral work, and then in the last decade teaching in the Baptist theological colleges of Queensland and South Australia, during which time he was also consulting with the churches. His teaching interests cover the areas of leadership, organisational change, preaching, worship, New Testament, ecclesiology, spirituality and ethics. He has spent the last few years researching the impact of conflict upon leadership functioning, and the relationship between a churches understanding of God and the church decline or rejuvenation. Jeff completed a BTh at Ridley in the 80s, MA (Theol) at BCV in the early 90s, a TheolM in Pastoral Theology in the late 90s and a PhD through Flinders University in 2006 on the essence of Church Renewal. Jeff has sensed the calling of the Lord to be an instrument to develop the ministry life of others. His wider interests include time with his four children, being involved in their many sporting interests, writing worship music and spending time together in the country. Dr Peter Riddell - BA, DipED, GradDipDiv, PhD, FRSA
Professorial Dean, Centre for the Study of Islam and Other Faiths Peter took his PhD on Islam in Southeast Asia at the Australian National University (ANU). He has previously taught at the ANU, the Institut Pertanian Bogor (Indonesia), the London School of Oriental and African Studies and the London School of Theology, where he was promoted to the rank of Professor in 2003.
Peter has published widely on the study of Southeast Asia, Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations. His books include Transferring a Tradition (Berkeley, 1990); Islam and the Malay-Indonesian World (London, Hawaii, and Singapore, 2001); Islam in Context (with Peter Cotterell, Grand Rapids and Leicester, 2003); and Christians and Muslims (Leicester, 2004). Rev Dr Bruce Searle - Dip Aero Eng, BTh, MA, PhD
Dean, Mission Aviation Course Teaching Areas: Mission Aviation and Flight Instructor
Bruce and Delyse came to BCV in 1995 from Canberra where Bruce was Principal of the Canberra College of Theology. After graduating from RMIT with a Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering (1967), also gaining a commercial pilot licence, Bruce spent two years as an Officer in Army Aviation. In the following eight years he acquired extensive experience in engineering, business and flying before focussing once more on education, gaining first an M.A. in Biblical Literature from Asbury Seminary (USA) and then a Ph.D. in Communication and Higher Education from the University of Kentucky. Bruce and Delyse have two adult sons, Mark and Geoff. Besides church activities and aviation, Bruce’s interests include walking, family activities, music and motor cycling.

Ms Delle Matthews - BEd, GD Reading Ed, MA (Ling) MEd Admin
Dean of Studies
Delle has a background as a remedial reading teacher that led her into literacy work with a passion for enabling others to read God's word. She has been a member of Wycliffe Bible Translators and SIL International for 22 years as Literacy Co-ordinator for SIL Indonesia serving in West Papua and teaching Literacy and Training Across Cultures at SPSIL. She began working in educational administration while there and completed a Masters in Educational Administration in order to develop what she believes is a gift from God. She is dedicated to serving God through education, furthering His kingdom by helping to ensure others are skilled and qualified for their ministries. Her hobbies include knitting (she belongs to the Handknitters Guild), gardening and walking.

Mrs Judi Long - BTh GradDipLib MA(Theol)
Dean of Students Teaching Areas: Theology and Missiology
Judi is married to Allan and they have two teenage daughters. She completed her first theological studies at Ridley College, commenced her MA at BCV and then finished it at Moore College. She is currently completing a Doctor of Ministry through BCV. Judi has previously worked in variety of positions ranging from a Youth Worker to a Librarian. Most recently she was the Research and Communications Officer for the National Office of the Anglican Church of Australia. She has a particular interest in mission in the Australian context. Judi enjoys playing the sax, going for walks and spending time with her family.

Rev Martin Pakula - BSc, BTh, MTh
Dean of Students Teaching area: Old Testament Martin was brought up Jewish in the eastern Suburbs of Sydney. He became a Christian while studying at University. He worked for several years as a minister in the Anglican church, and also in an independent outreach ministry to Jews. His MTh was on Biblical Theology and the Feast of Tabernacles. Martin has written a commentary on Numbers in the Anglican Press series `Reading the Bible Today’. He is married to Jennie and they have two children, Asher and Rachel.

Dr Greg Forbes - BTh(Hons) MTh PhD
Head Department of Biblical Studies Teaching Areas: Greek, New Testament, Hermeneutics
Greg has had close ties with BCV since he commenced undergraduate studies at the college in 1986. After completing a BTh in 1991, Greg has since completed an MTh on Revelation 20 and a PhD on the parables in Luke. Since 1992 Greg has taught NT Greek at various levels in the academic program. Greg is married to Anne-Maree and they have three sons. Both Greg and Anne-Maree have considerable experience in small group ministry, particularly at Clayton Church of Christ Fellowship where Greg was employed as a staff worker during his undergraduate studies. Greg’s particular study interests lie in historical Jesus research, and Greek grammar as it relates to exegesis. Greg is a keen golfer, and both he and Anne-Maree Anne-Maree are avid gardeners and enjoy relaxing at the beach.

Rev Dr Colin G Kruse - ThL BD MTh PhD
Teaching Area: New Testament
Colin and Rosemary came to BCV after 16 years at Ridley College. In the 20 years following his ordination into the Anglican ministry, Colin gained practical experience in parishes in Australia and the USA, also five years of missionary service with CMS as a theological lecturer in Indonesia. He is a prolific writer. Besides journal articles on the New Testament, Old Testament, and the Dead Sea Scrolls, he has authored several books including New Testament Models for Ministry: Jesus and Paul (Marshall, Morgan and Scott); The Second Epistle of Paul to the Corinthians (IVP/Eerdmans); Paul, the Law and Justification (IVP/Hendrickson), and commentaries on The Letters of John (Eerdmans/IVP) and The Gospel according to John (IVP/Eerdmans). He is currently writing a commentary on Romans for the Pillar New Testament Commentary series (Eerdmans/IVP).

Rev Dr Edward J Woods - LTh DipRE DipTheol BA(Hons) MA(Oxon) DLitt et Phil (Biblical Studies)
Coordinator, Diploma Studies Teaching Area: Old Testament Ted trained at the Baptist Theological College of New South Wales, and then pursued post-graduate studies at Bristol University and Oxford University in the UK. Ted was then involved in the pastoral ministry in NSW and missionary service in Zambia (with ABMS), principally as a lecturer in Old Testament at the Theological College of Central Africa. In March 1990, Ted received his doctorate in Biblical Studies from the University of South Africa. In his busy schedule he finds time for sporting interests, reading, commentary writing, and preaching. He is currently writing a commentary on Deuteronomy for the Tyndale Old Testament commentary series. Ted is also a moderator for the Australian College of Theology in Old Testament. Dr Mei Chung – DipEd BTh MME MDiv PhD
Chinese Department Course Coordinator and Field Work Coordinator Lecturer in Mission and Pastoral Ministries
Born in Hong Kong, Mei and her family moved to Australia in 2000. Before coming to Australia, she served as a school teacher, a pastor and a missionary in Hong Kong, Taiwan and USA. During her time in Australia she has been working and serving as a school teacher, a pastor and in missions. Mei recently completed her PhD in 2007, the thesis was published in 2008 titled 'Chinese Young People and Spirituality: An Australian study'. Kathy is originally from Oregon. After four years teaching Eskimos in isolated Alaskan schools (accessible only by plane, dog sled or snow machine), she came to Australia intending to travel on to Asia but met Colin and stayed! Colin is a teacher in a Special Education school. She has four adult children. Leisure time is spent in the garden, with friends or curled up with a good book!

Mr Justin Clerke - LAME, Cert IV Training
Manager of Engineering Training
Justin, with his family, spent the majority of his childhood in outback Australia, where his father owned a light aircraft for use in his ministry with The Bush Church Aid Society. This exposure to aviation from an early age led to a career in aircraft engineering with a large Australian airline where he remained for the next 20 years. During this time he has gained LAME (Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer) qualifications on the Boeing 747 & 767 airframe and engines, Cert IV Trainer qualifications, experience in workplace OH&S requirements & Project Management. He has joined BCV-MAC this year (2008) and is excited to be training our future mission aviation engineers. He looks forward to using his gifts and experience to assist in the task of training the next generation of aircraft engineers who are called to serve in Mission Aviation. He is married to Kristel, and they have three children; Samuel, Joshua & Abbey. Justin has very successfully passed his love of aviation on to his sons, although (it seems) more time is needed for Kristel & Abbey to fully share and understand this passion.

Rev Dr King L. She BA (Wales), ThM (Dallas), PhD (Dallas)
 Chinese Department Lecturer in Biblical Studies Born in China, King moved to Hong Kong in 1972. He received his PhD from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2008, majoring in Biblical Studies, specialising in Exodus and Hebrews. During his time in USA, King worked as a pastor in several Chinese churches and professor in 4C Bible and Mission Institute. His research interests are philosophy, hermeneutics, biblical ontology, and autopistic systematic theology. He is married to Keh and they have two children, Hesed and Jedid.
